Lisbon - 1936. José Santa-Bárbara attends Escola António Arroio, in Lisbon, where he graduates in Ceramics. In 1955 he enters Escola Superior de Belas-Artes de Lisbon where he attends Sculptur classes. He attends the Scenery course in Conservatório Nacional de Lisbon. He is present in solo exhibitions since 1964, and colective ones since 1953. In 1994 he is invited by Metropolitano de Lisbon to participate in the artistical intervention in Entrecampos' Interface. In the railway station project, José Santa-Bárbara works with ceramic tiles.
