Metro station Restauradores, Lisbon, Portugal, 1998 (refurbished)


Chaves - 1930. Nadir Afonso studied in Porto and in Paris where he worked with Jean Dewasne and Pillet in the "Atelier de l'Art Abstrai". The main characteristic of his work is the use of geometric figures, where he uses strong colours, suggesting ambiences, cities, etc. The Restauradoresīpanels are dedicated to the cities of: Madrid, Paris, London and Moscow. In this work, the artist wants to "express an homage of Lisbon to the other metropolitan cities, using symbolical representations".
