Matosinhos (Oporto area), Portugal - 1933. He studied at Escola Superior de Belas Artes in Porto, where he has been a professor since 1966 till the present. He has been a visiting professor at the Ecole Polythecnhique de Lausanne (Switzerland), University of Pennsylvania (USA), Los Andes School in Bogota (Colombia) and at the Graduate School of Design of Harvard University (USA).
Among many projects in Portugal, we can point out: Malagueira neighbourhood (Oporto area); Setubal College of Education, Oporto Faculty of Architecture, Aveiro University Library, Marco de Canavezes Church, Reconstruction of the fire-damaged area of Chiado (Lisbon); Metro Station Baixa-Chiado (Lisbon); Expo 98 Portuguese Pavilion
(Lisbon);Expo 2000 Portuguese Pavilion (Hannover) - together with architect
Souto Moura. Besides the projects in Portugal, he has also developed several projects abroad.
He has also participating in several seminars and conferences in different countries like Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, England, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Canada and the United States.
Siza Vieira has been awarded several national and international prizes.
